US lauds Bangladesh’s ‘tremendous economic growth’, reiterates importance of free and fair elections
The United States has lauded the ‘tremendous economic growth’ of Bangladesh and its positive trajectory for an even brighter economic future. The Statement on Thursday came after the 9th US-Bangladesh partnership Dialogue held in Washington on 3 May in which Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen represented Bangladesh while Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland led the US delegation.
The US State Department in its statement said both sides reiterated their commitment to a growing partnership across a range of political, economic, environmental, and security issues.
Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland reiterated the importance of free and fair elections, and ‘our commitment to promoting human rights, labour rights, and freedom of expression in Bangladesh’. She also underscored the strong people-to-people ties between our two countries.
