US lawmakers demand Afghanistan be taken out of the United Nations

 WASHINGTON: Four US lawmakers, including the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, have called for Afghanistan's withdrawal from the United Nations. These people have repeatedly accused Afghanistan of human rights abuses.

According to media reports,the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez and his fellow lawmakers James E. Risk, Gene Shaheen and Johnny K. Ernst have written a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressing concern over the increasing human rights abuses led by the Taliban. These people have asked the United Nations to throw out the Taliban and Afghanistan from every seat of the United Nations. The four lawmakers said that the United Nations should take meaningful action to protect human rights in Afghanistan.

 

 

 They have demanded that the Taliban not be given a single seat at a meeting of the Credentials Committee to determine diplomatic representation for Afghanistan in the United Nations this September.

He said that this is an opportunity for the United Nations to take meaningful action. Through this, the message will be sent to the world that if the Taliban wants to destroy the human rights of women and girls of Afghanistan, then the United Nations will not stand by it.
