'Watch this movie with your daughter', Madhya Pradesh speaker challenges Shah Rukh Khan on 'Pathan controversy'

BHOPAL:After Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, State Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam has also opposed actor Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Pathan.

He said, "Shah Rukh should watch this film with his daughter, upload a picture and tell the world that he is watching it with his daughter. I challenge you to make a similar film on the Prophet and run it." Assembly Speaker Gautam said this ahead of the five-day winter session starting today amid demands to ban 'Pathan' in theatres.

Senior Congress leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Dr Govind Singh, and former Union Minister Suresh Pachauri, have also opposed the film, saying it is "against our values". Suresh Pachauri said, "It is not about the Pathan, but about the apparel (clothes)."

In Indian culture, no woman would be allowed to wear such clothes and display that view in public, be it a Hindu, Muslim or a follower. On Wednesday, Narottam Mishra objected to a song in the film. He had said, "The costumes in the song are objectionable. The song reflects a dirty mentality."

Narottam Mishra's statement came two days after the makers of 'Pathan' released the song 'Besharam Rang'. He had said that I advise the producers of the film to fix the objectionable parts of the song. Earlier, Deepika Padukone stood in support of the 'tukde-tukde gang' in JNU. Her mindset was exposed. I believe that the title of the song 'Besharam Rang' is also objectionable. Also, the way saffron and green have been used in the costumes is objectionable. Changes need to be made, failing which we will decide whether the film should be screened in Madhya Pradesh or not."
