WhatsApp support will end in these smartphones from October 24, see full list

(Fast Mail News) -WhatsApp is used by millions of people worldwide and it is one of the most popular instant messaging service. Whether Android or iPhone users, WhatsApp plays a big role in keeping everyone connected with family and friends. There is a big news for users using Meta-owned WhatsApp on iPhone. Now Apple has said in a latest update that WhatsApp support will no longer be available in select iPhone models.

Let us tell you that earlier in May, a report by WaBetaInfo also claimed that WhatsApp will end its support for iOS 10, iOS 11, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C in the coming months. It was said in the report that WhatsApp will not work in these iPhones from October 24.

It was mentioned in the report that if you are using iOS 10 or iOS 11, then update the device to iOS 12 to continue running WhatsApp. This means users can still run WhatsApp on the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S, but the iOS version will need to be updated. However, keep in mind that the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C will no longer get WhatsApp support as iOS 12 is not available for these devices either.

WhatsApp says that the app currently supports iOS 12 and newer versions. But the company has advised to use the latest version of the operating system. WhatsApp's support page states, "Devices and software change frequently, so we regularly review which operating systems we support and update based on that." Every year, like other technology companies, to determine where to end support, we look at which devices and software are the oldest and the number of people using them. These devices also do not get the latest security updates and may lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp always informs users before ending its support for the device. iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C users are also expected to get information before the company officially ends support.

Let us tell you that this is not the first time that WhatsApp has ended support from older OS and devices like this. Last year also, the company ended support for Android phones running Android 4.0.4 and above.
