"Women Look Good When...": Baba Ramdev's Comment creats Fresh Controversy
Mumbai, Nov 28, (Fast Mail News):-- Obscene remarks on the dress of women by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has given rise to a new controversy. This dispute is now taking a political turn. In an event organized in Thane, Maharashtra, Ramdev said that, women can look good wearing saris, salwar kameez or even without wearing anything. Condemning his comments, Delhi Women's Commission chief Swati Maliwal said that Ramdev "should apologize to the country."
Swati Maliwal has also tweeted the video of Ramdev's speech on Friday. Along with Ramdev, Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was also present on the stage. Along with this, Shrikant Shinde, son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, also participated in the program.
In that video, Ramdev is heard smiling and saying, "I see everyone's face is looking very happy. You are lucky. Those in front got a chance to wear the saree. The ones behind didn't get a chance. Perhaps they had brought the saree packed in their bags from home."
He said, "You look good even wearing a saree. You look good in a salwar suit like Amritaji, and like me, you look good even if someone doesn't wear it."
Baba Ramdev laughed and said, "We wear them for public shame. Who used to dress children earlier, we used to roam naked like this for 8-10 years. The layer of clothes has come."
Posting the video, Swati Maliwal wrote, "The remarks made by Swami Ramdev on women in front of the wife of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra are indecent and condemnable. All women have been hurt by this statement, Baba Ramdevji should apologize to the nation for this statement."
Mahua Moitra of Trinamool Congress has also condemned Baba Ramdev's remarks. He tweeted, "Now I know why Patanjali Baba ran away from Ramlila Maidan in women's clothes. He says he likes sarees, salwars and...apparently he has a brain strain which affects his thoughts. makes it so one-sided." In 2012, the yoga guru was caught trying to dodge the police in a white salwar kameez.
The Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray questioned why the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was present on the dais, did not oppose Ramdev's comments.
Sanjay Raut said, "When the Governor makes derogatory remarks on Shivaji, when the Chief Minister of Karnataka threatens to take the villages of Maharashtra to Karnataka and now when BJP campaigner Ramdev insults women, the government remains silent. Will the government Has mortgaged his tongue to Delhi?"
Till now BJP has not given any answer in this matter. At the same time no explanation has come from Baba Ramdev or Patanjali.
