Congress to hold nationwide protest on Friday over NEET-UG irregularities

NEW DELHI:Congress will protest across the country on Friday against the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). On Wednesday, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has written a letter to party leaders across the country asking to hold massive protests at the state headquarters on Friday demanding justice in this regard. KC. Venugopal has written to all PCC presidents, CLP leaders, all AICC general secretaries, in-charges, heads of frontal organizations, departments, cells and AICC secretaries for the protest.

Venugopal told the Congress leaders that there is an urgent need to address several complaints and concerns over the conduct and results of NEET UG 2024. He said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had released the results of NEET-UG 2024 on June 4.These results have been marred by allegations of irregularities and paper leaks after some candidates were found to have inflated marks. There are significant concerns over inflated marks and irregularities. Awarding grace marks without disclosing the methodology raises suspicion.

In the letter, he said that the exam has been marred by technical glitches, malpractice and unfair means at some of the NEET exam centres. "Organised corruption is evident from the arrests made in Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana, revealing a pattern of malpractice in BJP-ruled states. The Supreme Court has also highlighted the gravity of the allegations and demanded zero tolerance towards negligence",he said. The letter sent to Congress leaders said that such irregularities undermine the credibility of the examination process. It endangers the future of countless dedicated students appearing in the exam.

Venugopal said that the Congress party had promised in its manifesto to secure the future of the youth by making strict laws against paper leaks. Against the massive corruption, irregularities in NEET and the inaction and silence of the NDA government, all Pradesh Congress Committees are requested to hold a massive protest at the state headquarters on Friday demanding justice for the students. Senior leaders and party functionaries should be involved in this protest. A detailed report on the protest activities should be sent to the official website of the Congress.
