Kylian Mbappé named captain of France national football team

The France Football Association made an official announcement on their social media handles, saying, "Didier Deschamps names Kylian Mbappe as the new captain of the Blues! Antoine Griezmann is the vice-captain."

Embappé captained the French football team once against Denmark last September. He has now become the youngest captain in the entire history of Les Bleus.

Prior to Embappé, veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris of Tottenham Hotspur captained the French national team. Under his leadership, France won the 2018 World Cup and played in their second consecutive World Cup final in Qatar, but lost to a strong Argentina team.

Embappé has proved himself at every level since the beginning of his career. He became the second player in football history after Pelé to score in two consecutive finals. He also became the second player after Geoff Hurst to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.

The 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner has made 66 appearances for France, scoring 36 goals and assisting on 23 during this period.

He has played 14 matches for France in the World Cup and scored 12 goals. Also, he is yet to receive a red card while playing for the French National Team.
