Pahalgam Attack: Pakistan, Alarmed by India's Stance, Calls National Security Committee Meeting

 (Fast Mail):-- Hours after India held a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the National Security Committee, scheduled for today. The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the social media platform X, confirming that national security will be the main agenda.

He wrote, “Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the National Security Committee on Thursday morning, April 24, to respond to the statement of the Indian government.”

Meanwhile, Canada condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, nearly 36 hours after the incident on Wednesday. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney posted on X, “I am shocked by the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. This is a senseless and shocking act of violence that killed and injured innocent civilians and tourists. Canada strongly condemns this terrorist attack. We extend our condolences to the victims and their families.”

The Indian government has decided to convene an all-party meeting on April 24 on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, the meeting will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The all-party meeting will discuss the situation following the attack, security measures, and future strategies, with leaders from various political parties in attendance.

 

 A day after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a CCS meeting on Wednesday, which lasted over two hours. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, among others.

In view of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, PM Modi cut short his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi on Wednesday morning. After the CCS meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated, “A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was held this evening under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

The CCS was briefed in detail about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. Several others were injured. The CCS strongly condemned the attack, expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
