6.0 magnitude earthquake rocks Philippines
MANILA: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake rocks Southern Philippines. According to the US Geological Survey, its intensity on the Richter scale has been estimated at 6.0. After the earthquake, the authorities issued warnings about aftershocks. The epicenter of the quake, which occurred at 2 p.m. local time, was a few kilometers from the municipality of Maragusan in the mountainous province of Davao de Oro on Mindanao island, according to Janaki.
Earlier on February 16, an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude occurred in the Masbate area. However, no damage was confirmed then. Meanwhile,no damage has been confirmed yet in Tuesday's earthquake. However, rural areas are being inquired into it a s people have felt strong tremors of the earthquake.
Philippines is located on the Ring of Fire in the Pacific which is considered very sensitive according to earthquake.
More than 47,000 deaths have been confirmed in the earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria just a month ago. This earthquake was one of the largest earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. After the earthquake, countries around the world came forward to help Turkey and Syria. India had also sent paramedical force including NDRF with the help of both the countries. India had also sent relief material to these countries under Operation Dost.
