'This Time, the Rupee Crosses 100': Sanjay Raut Says Modi and Shah Are Busy Plotting 'Game' in Bengal

(Fast Mail):-- Political rhetoric regarding the Indian rupee's continuous depreciation has intensified. Targeting the Central Government, Sanjay Raut—a Member of Parliament from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction)—stated that the rupee's weakness is a grave issue linked to the nation's prestige, yet the government is failing to pay it due attention.

Taking a jibe at the situation, he remarked that a scenario akin to the slogan "Abki Baar, 100 Ke Paar" (This time, crossing the 100 mark) appears to be unfolding; at such a juncture, the government ought to provide an explanation as to why the rupee's decline persists.

Sanjay Raut alleged, "Where is Modi-ji? He is in West Bengal, busy preparing to impose President's Rule in an effort to defeat Mamata Banerjee. Modi-ji and Shah-ji are attempting to play a 'game' (*khela*) in West Bengal, while the value of the rupee continues to plummet... Modi-ji himself once stated that when the value of the rupee falls, the nation's prestige falls along with it. So, what exactly is falling now?..."

He further added that in the past, whenever the rupee's value declined, the Prime Minister himself would assert that such a drop adversely affected the country's prestige. Now that the rupee is consistently weakening, why does the government remain silent on the matter? He raised the question: what exactly is the government's stance regarding the impact this is currently having on the nation's prestige, and what measures are being undertaken to strengthen the rupee?

Sanjay Raut also noted that the country's economy is grappling with numerous challenges, and the burden of inflation on the common citizen continues to mount. The rupee's weakness has a direct impact on the common people, as it renders imported goods more expensive and triggers price hikes within the domestic market as well. At such a critical juncture, the government should prioritize economic reforms over political maneuvering.
