Navy's biggest military exercise 'Tropex' held in IOR for four months

New Delhi, Mar 09, (Fast Mail News):-- Indian Navy's flagship operational exercise 'Tropex', which lasted for four months in the Indian Ocean region, concluded in the Arabian Sea this week. The overall exercise included Coastal Defense Exercise C-VIGIL and Amphibious Exercise AMPHEX. There was also significant participation of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Coast Guard in these exercises. The exercise commenced in November last year for a period of four months in the IOR.

 

The area of operations for this exercise in the Indian Ocean including the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal was spread over 4300 nautical miles from north to south and approximately 5000 nautical miles from the Persian Gulf in the west at 35 degree south latitude to the northern Australia coast in the east . The whole area was spread over an area of more than 21 million square nautical miles. Around 70 Indian Navy ships, six submarines and over 75 aircraft participated in TROPEX-23.

 

The last leg of TROPEX 23 saw a major operational exercise of the Indian Navy. Raksha Mantri spent a day at sea on the indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant on March 6 as part of the final joint phase of the exercise beginning in November 2022. He reviewed the operational preparedness and equipment of the Indian Navy, wherein the Navy demonstrated various aspects of operational skills and combat operations including deck handling of indigenous LCAs and live weapon firing.

 

Addressing the fleet, he lauded the operational preparedness of the Indian Navy and emphasized that the nation has full faith in the Navy's ability to disrupt the enemy's economic lifelines and military capabilities, affecting its combat capability. He expressed hope that the Indian Navy is fully capable of safeguarding India's national interests in the maritime domain and thwarting the ill-intentions of any potential adversary that threatens India's peaceful existence. Raksha Mantri appreciated the role of the Indian Navy in being at the forefront of the 'Make in India' initiative and towards combat readiness, credibility, a harmonious and secure future.
