Pahalgam Attack: Pawan Khera Slams BJP, Claims RSS-Affiliated Groups Acted in Line with Pakistan’s Intentions

NEW DELHI: The Congress party on Saturday alleged that organizations supported by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) acted  as Pakistan desired following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Pawan Khera, the head of the party’s media department, said that Pakistan aimed to disrupt the livelihoods of Kashmiris and fuel discord between Hindus and Muslims in India through this attack.

On April 22, a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. In a video statement, Khera emphasized the need to compare the actions and statements of leaders and parties in the four days following the attack.

He remarked, “Rahul Gandhi visited Kashmir to meet the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Bihar for election campaigning. Congress declared its support for the government during this crisis. Meanwhile, the BJP made a cartoon of a deceased victim and his widow.”

Khera further claimed, “Congress demanded an all-party meeting, but the BJP lied about it. Congress urged the government to give a firm response to Pakistan, while the BJP blamed a lack of patriotism among citizens for the attack.”

According to Khera, Pakistan’s objective was to undermine Kashmiri livelihoods and sow division between Hindus and Muslims in India.

He accused RSS-affiliated groups of fulfilling Pakistan’s agenda, alleging, “Immediately after the attack, these organizations did exactly what Pakistan wanted. They threatened Kashmiri students across the country and spewed venom against India’s Muslims.”
