Congress's 140th Foundation Day: Kharge says - Even if not in power, Congress's spine is straight

(Fast Mail):--  Addressing the 140th Foundation Day ceremony of Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge said that those who claim Congress is finished should receive a clear message: the party may not be in power, but its spine is straight.

He said that Congress has never compromised with the Constitution, nor with secularism, nor with the rights of the people.

Kharge emphatically stated that Congress has never sought votes in the name of temple-mosque nor engaged in the politics of hatred.

According to him, the BJP works to divide society, while Congress believes in uniting it. Congress has treated religion as a matter of faith, but some people have turned it into a political weapon.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, the Congress president said that today they have power, but not truth. That is why they hide facts, avoid conducting the census, and talk about changing the Constitution.

He said that those who give speeches on history today—their ancestors were running away from history.

Kharge  stated that Congress is not just a party, but an ideology that can never be destroyed. This fight is not for power, but to save the soul of the country and the Constitution.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Kharge said that truth always wins, even if public opinion is not in its favour.

He claimed that today Congress has both truth and the support of the people, as was evident recently at Ramlila Maidan.

He alleged that in the last 11 years, the BJP government has amended laws to benefit a few capitalist friends and weakened issues like MGNREGA, forests, and land.

The government wants to hide the truth, which is why it is not conducting the census.

The Congress president referred to Sonia Gandhi's tenure and said that the UPA government strengthened people's rights. Steps like the Right to Information, Right to Education, Food Security Act, MGNREGA, and Land Acquisition Act were taken during that period.

He alleged that the Modi government has weakened the institutions built by Congress over the last 11 years, and RSS-BJP leaders have not respected the national flag, the Constitution, and symbols of independence.

Kharge mentioned the founding of Congress and said that the party was established on December 281885, in Mumbai.

He said that for 62 years, Congress leaders and workers endured jails, struggled, and won freedom for the country.

Recalling the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, he said that these leaders laid down their lives for values like unity, integrity, and secularism. “

Today, when the Constitution and democracy are in danger, Congress will continue the struggle for the India that the freedom fighters dreamed of”he added.
