India Gains Global Glory at World Para Athletics Championship, Players Receive Widespread Praise

(FM Hindi):-- The Indian Oil New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championship concluded spectacularly on Sunday.

With over 2,200 athletes from more than 100 countries participating, India delivered its best-ever performance, securing 22 medals (6 gold, 9 silver, 7 bronze).

Hosting this prestigious event for the first time, India impressed the world with the quality of the organization.Sports legends and international para-athletes acknowledged that the event elevated India’s global image to “new heights.”

The iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, previously the venue for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, once again became a symbol of India’s organizational prowess.

Netherlands’ Floor Jong, a six-time world champion and Paralympic medalist, won two golds in long jump and 100m T64, stating, “My experience in India was fantastic. The hospitality and organization were world-class.”

 

 India’s para-sports icon Deepa Malik said, “This was the biggest celebration of para-sports in the country. India has become inclusive not just in hosting but also in mindset. We are fully prepared for 2036.”Para coach Amit Saroha called the event “India’s best international event to date,” asserting that the country is now capable of hosting the Paralympic Games.

Three-time world champion Sumit Antil credited the TOPS scheme for revolutionizing Indian para-athletes’ performances.Germany’s Markus Rehm, Canada’s Greg Stewart, and USA’s Derek Loccident also praised the Indian hosts, describing the event as an “unforgettable experience.”

India has now become the fourth Asian country, after Qatar, UAE, and Japan, to host this prestigious championship. The event not only strengthened India’s sports hosting capabilities on the global stage but also gave the country a new identity in para-sports.
