Raju Talikote passes away at 62: Kannada cinema mourns a comedy legend
The Kannada film actor and comedian Raju Talikote passed away at the age of 62 after suffering a heart attack while shooting for a Kannada film. His family confirmed the news.
Born in 1963 in the town of Talikote, Raju’s real name was ‘Rangayana Rajesab Muktamsab Talikote’. Both his parents were theatre artists who ran a local drama group called ‘Sreeguru Kaskadeswara Nattiya Sangha’.
Growing up backstage among scripts and costumes, young Raju Talikote was always inclined to the stage.
Talikote’s journey to the big screen began with the film ‘Hendathi Andre Hendathi’. From there he went on to act in several popular Kannada movies. The filmography includes ‘Manasare’, ‘Pancharangi’, ‘Rajadhani’, ‘Lifeu Ishtene’, ‘Alemari’, ‘Maina’, ‘Toppiwala’, and ‘Punjabi House’.
He also appeared in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss Kannada’ Season 7. But long before his television fame, Raju had already made his mark in theatre. His play ‘Kaliyuga Kudukka’ became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s.
