Yogi Government is Following Repressive Policies: Former MP Danish Ali
A heavy police force was deployed outside his residence, and barricades were set up, turning the area into a cantonment-like zone. Danish Ali and Congress supporters have strongly protested against this action.
According to the police, Danish Ali's visit to Bareilly could have posed a threat to law and order, so he was placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure. This incident pertains to the Bypass area under the Amroha Dehat police station jurisdiction.
Danish Ali stated that he had a scheduled programme to go to Bareilly. In Bareilly, people are being systematically suppressed. So we were heading there to tell the police administration not to suppress the people.
Innocent people are being harassed there. Their homes are being demolished. This is not acceptable in a democracy. Such a system cannot be tolerated at any cost in a democracy.
"We were going there to appeal for peace among the people and also to urge them not to fall prey to any incitement",he said.
Additionally, while mentioning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said, "Abandon this repressive policy. Injustice and suppression cannot persist for long. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Constitution grants equality to all"..
He further said that it is heart-breaking that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is using such language.
“I am ashamed that he is the Chief Minister of my state. I want to go among my people to share their grief. There, people's shops and homes are being demolished, and sadly, they are trying to silence our voice”, the congress leader said.
“These people cannot suppress our voice for long. These people have stopped us. Seven or eight of us wanted to go. The police administration did not allow us to leave. I want to ask, what kind of justice is this?”, he said.
He added that by doing this, these people are attempting to suppress the common people in Uttar Pradesh. This government is entirely inhuman. It is a repressive government because now these people realize that their government is on its way out. The way our leader Rahul Gandhi has raised the issue of vote theft has sent a message among the people that this is a vote-stealing government.
The police stated that this step was taken in view of the tense situation in Bareilly. However, Danish Ali described this action as a violation of democratic rights.
He said, "I have been confined to my home without any concrete reason. This is an attack on the rights of a public representative."
