INDIA Bloc Names Former SC Judge B. Sudarshan Reddy as Joint Vice-Presidential Candidate

 (Fast Mail News):--The opposition has announced its candidate for the vice-presidential election. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced on Tuesday that former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy will be the joint candidate of the opposition parties for the vice-presidential election.

Reddy is a former Supreme Court judge and the first Lokayukta of Goa.

Kharge said, “All parties of the ‘INDIA’ alliance have decided to choose a common candidate, and this decision has been taken unanimously. I am delighted that all opposition parties have agreed on one name. This is a significant achievement for democracy. Whenever the Constitution is in danger, we all come together to fight for its protection. We have decided that this election should have a candidate who will work for the good of the country.”

Kharge further stated, “B. Sudarshan Reddy is one of India’s most distinguished and progressive jurists. He has had a long and illustrious legal career, including roles as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, and a judge of the Supreme Court”.

 

 Kharge said,”Mr reddy has been a steadfast and courageous advocate for social, economic, and political justice. His judgments reflect his commitment to protecting the Constitution and fundamental rights while championing the cause of the poor and marginalized.”

Kharge added, “This vice-presidential election is an ideological battle, and all opposition parties agree on this. That is why we are unitedly contesting this election.”

The Congress President said, “The opposition parties have chosen Shri B. Sudarshan Reddy as their joint candidate because he embodies the values that guided our freedom movement and shaped our Constitution and democracy. Today, those values are under threat, and that is why our collective and resolute determination is to fight this election. We will file the nomination on the 21st.”
