Bengal Elections: TMC MP Mitali Bag Attacked in Hooghly, Hospitalized; Party Blames BJP
The TMC MP has accused BJP supporters of carrying out the attack. However, the Election Commission has taken cognizance of the incident as a clash and has sought a detailed report from the district administration.
According to reports, the glass windows of her car were shattered in the incident. Since she was sitting in the front passenger seat, she sustained injuries. She has been admitted to the hospital. MP Mitali Bag said that BJP goons smashed her car.
"Voting hasn't even started yet, and see how they are trying to suppress a woman's voice. The attackers tried to kill me."

Mitali said, "I want to tell the people of Goghat and Arambagh that you can see how they are trying to suppress my voice. Seeing the atrocities being committed against women, I appeal to all mothers and sisters to come together and vote. BJP does not know how to accept defeat."
The TMC MP also criticized the Election Commission over the incident. She said the Election Commission should come to Arambagh and arrest all BJP leaders and workers. "You will be held responsible."
However, the BJP has denied the allegations and accused TMC workers of inciting violence. BJP’s former Arambagh president and candidate from Pursurah, Biman Ghosh, said that their workers were campaigning in support of candidate Prashant Digar when some goons led by local TMC leader Sanjay Khan attacked them with sticks, bricks, rods, and guns.
Around 20 people were hospitalized, while nearly 50 were injured,he said, adding the BJP candidate’s car was also damaged. He claimed that Mitali Bag is dramatizing the incident to cover up the truth.
