West Bengal Assembly Elections: If BJP Comes to Power in West Bengal, Many People Will Become Homeless, Says Mamata Banerjee

KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday that if the BJP comes to power in the upcoming elections, many people in the state could lose their homes and shelter.

Addressing an election rally in Khandaghosh in the former Burdwan district, Mamata Banerjee said, “In the coming days, people will have neither an address, nor a house, nor a family. The BJP will snatch everything.”

During the rally, she targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi (without naming him directly). She said BJP leaders are promising to implement the 7th Pay Commission, but this is completely misleading.

The Chief Minister said, “They are lying. They should have checked the facts first. We had already announced the 7th Pay Commission in our state budget in February this year. West Bengal is the only state where government employees receive pensions, while other states do not have this facility.”

Mamata Banerjee also questioned Prime Minister Modi’s promise that if the BJP forms the government, West Bengal’s famous food products and sweets would be exported globally. She said they don’t even seem to know that these products are already being sold at local, national, and international levels. At the rally, she also made allegations regarding Humayun.

Mamata Banerjee claimed that a deal worth ?1,000 crore has been made to divide minority votes. However, she did not name anyone directly. She added that the video which has surfaced in this matter is being called fake or AI-generated, but the person who made the video has claimed it is real.

Mamata Banerjee also raised questions over inflation and asked why the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas are not being reduced. It should be noted that the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on 23 and 29 April. Vote counting will take place on 4 May, and the results will be declared on the same day.
