Those who used to criticize Nehru are now quoting him: Priyanka Gandhi hits back at BJP

(Fast Mail):-- Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi targeted the BJP on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha. She said it is strange that the leaders who often speak ill of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru are now quoting him in support of their arguments.

During the debate on a motion seeking the removal of Om Birla from the post of Speaker, Priyanka Gandhi said she found it amusing that those who always attack Nehru are suddenly praising him for strengthening India's democracy.

She said in the House, "I was laughing today because the person they abuse every day—Nehru ji—they are quoting that very person today. Suddenly, they have started respecting Nehru ji. Today they said that the person who strengthened democracy the most was Nehru ji," which received strong support from the opposition benches.

Her remarks came amid the political debate during the discussion on the motion against the Speaker.

Priyanka used the occasion to highlight the contradiction in the ruling party's stance towards Nehru's legacy. She also defended opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that despite repeated attacks from the government, he has stood firm on his position.

She said, "There is only one person in this country who has not bowed before them in the last 12 years, and that is the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. Because he stands here and speaks the truth without any hesitation, and that truth is something they cannot digest."
