Bihar SIR: Rahul Gandhi Meets 'Deceased' Voters Over Tea
(Fast Mail News):-- Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met with some voters from Bihar in Delhi today who were declared as "deceased" in the voter list issued by the Election Commission after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In a sarcastic jab at the Election Commission, Gandhi remarked that he has had many interesting experiences in life, but never had the chance to have tea with "deceased people."
He thanked the Election Commission for this unique experience.
The Congress party released a video of Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with these voters, stating that the Leader of Opposition met with those from Bihar who were wrongly declared "deceased" in the voter list.
The party alleged that this is a clear conspiracy by the Election Commission and the BJP to deprive Dalits, backward classes, and minorities of their voting rights.
In a statement, Congress said that seven voters from Bihar, who are very much alive, had tea with Rahul Gandhi today, despite being listed as "deceased" in the Election Commission’s SIR list.
These voters—Ramikbal Rai, Harendra Rai, Lalmuni Devi, Vachia Devi, Lalwati Devi, Poonam Kumari, and Munna Kumar—are all from Tejashwi Yadav’s Raghopur constituency. Despite completing the necessary paperwork for SIR, their names were removed from the voter list.

These seven voters represent just a small fraction of those unjustly removed from the voter list in a few polling stations in the constituency.
Congress emphasized that this is not a clerical error but a clear violation of political franchise. The party also pointed out that after the exposure of voter theft in Bengaluru, it is evident that the Bihar SIR process has also been compromised. When living people are declared dead, it is tantamount to issuing a death certificate to democracy itself, the party said.
It is worth noting that significant irregularities have surfaced in the draft voter list released after the SIR in Bihar, with new revelations emerging daily. Reports of large-scale removals of living voters’ names by labelling them as deceased are coming to light.
On Tuesday, during a Supreme Court hearing on the SIR issue, Yogendra Yadav presented two individuals who were declared deceased and had their names removed from the voter list. The case was heard in court today as well, with the next hearing scheduled for tomorrow. Meanwhile, to protest against the irregularities and voter theft in the SIR process, Rahul Gandhi will launch a "Voter Rights Yatra" in Bihar starting August 17.
