Nitish Kumar emptied Bihar's treasury before leaving power : Tejashwi Yadav

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) National Executive President Tejashwi Yadav on Monday accused Nitish Kumar of emptying Bihar's treasury before going to the Rajya Sabha, and said that now the state's government “will be run from Delhi.”

He also alleged that the BJP has swallowed the Janata Dal United (JD(U)) in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Nitish Kumar is about to leave Bihar and before that, he has emptied the state's treasury. Even after 20 years of NDA rule, Bihar remains the poorest state, where per capita income and investment are the lowest, and the condition of education and health is also poor.”

The RJD leader also announced the renaming of the party's student wing from ‘Chhatra RJD’ to ‘Socialist Students Association of India (SSAI)’ during the press conference.

He said that the name ‘Chhatra RJD’, formed in 2017, has been discontinued and the new name has been adopted.

Tejashwi Yadav said, “An old order of the Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the use of political parties’ names in the names of student organizations. In accordance with that order, we have changed the name of ‘Chhatra RJD’ to SSAI.”

He informed that the Lyngdoh Committee report, which was accepted and made mandatory by the Supreme Court in September 2006, also imposed a restriction on the use of political parties’ names in student organizations.

The RJD leader said, “Our student organization had been inactive for quite some time. Now, under the leadership of national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, we will reach out to universities and organize students with socialist ideology.”

After unveiling the ‘flag’ of SSAI, he said that three words have been prominently highlighted in it — Education, Equality, and Employment.

He added, “As you know, the condition of education across the country is at its lowest level today. It is our responsibility to make it an issue. The RJD student wing will present its demands before the government.”
