Congress Alleges 'Golden Age of Corruption' in Modi Government,10-Day-Old Company Gets ?750 Crore Order from SAIL

(Fast Mail News):--Congress leader Ajay Kumar on Tuesday alleged that the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) sold 11 lakh tonnes of steel at concessional rates to 100 construction companies for infrastructure projects, which these firms later sold at higher prices for profit.

He claimed that a company, just 10 days old, was awarded a ?750 crore contract. Taking a dig, he called this the "golden age of corruption" under the Modi government.

In a press conference, Dr. Ajay Kumar stated, "SAIL sold 11 lakh tonnes of steel at concessional rates to 100 construction companies for infrastructure projects, which these firms then sold at higher prices for profit."

He added that an honest SAIL General Manager, Rajiv Bhatia, exposed a ?400-800 crore scam by a 10-day-old company, 'Venkatesh Infra Projects Private Limited.' However, Bhatia was suspended for 10 months without reason and later forced into voluntary retirement.

Kumar explained, "SAIL’s rule is to provide steel at lower rates for infrastructure projects. Rajiv Bhatia, from a middle-class family, became a GM at SAIL to serve the nation. He noticed companies defrauding SAIL. One such company, 'Venkatesh Infra Projects Private Limited,' formed on October 1, 2020, signed a contract for 1.5 lakh tonnes of steel on October 12, 2020, securing a ?750 crore deal just 10 days after its formation.

Another company vouched for it, claiming prior collaboration in a letter sent to SAIL in September. This is Modi ji’s 'Amrit Kaal.'

"The former Jamshedpur MP claimed that Bhatia wrote to PM Narendra Modi twice about the scam but was suspended. His voluntary retirement document falsely labelled him as corrupt, while those he exposed were reinstated after the Lok Sabha elections following a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) probe that initially suspended 26 individuals.

Kumar further alleged that APCO, a company that donated ?30 crore to the BJP, faced no scrutiny despite executing multiple projects. He accused the Modi government of being "highly corrupt," claiming the media ignores such scams.

"An honest man who exposes corruption is locked in a room and forced into VRS—this is the reality of the Narendra Modi government," he said.

Kumar stated that since Modi came to power, the country has been in an "Amrit Kaal" marked by rampant corruption.

He claimed that of 25 opposition leaders raided by the ED, 23 joined BJP, after which their cases were dropped.

He listed further allegations: Manipur is burning, poor people’s homes are bulldozed, tribals face atrocities, frequent train accidents, scams are linked to the Ram Temple, public money is used to shield Modi’s allies, 95% of ED-CBI raids target opposition leaders, BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s son got a ticket despite allegations, BJP’s Kuldeep Sengar was involved in a rape case and the victim’s father was killed, and 29,000 deaths occurred on Mumbai local trains in the last 11 years with no reporting.

Kumar added that in Modi’s "Amrit Kaal," the poor’s homes are demolished, a CM’s car in Madhya Pradesh was filled with water instead of fuel, a BJP MLA’s car was allowed on a bridge while an ambulance was stopped, a BJP MLA assaulted a passenger for a window seat on the Vande Bharat train, a BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh beat an SDM, a bridge with a 90-degree turn was built in Madhya Pradesh, and severe waterlogging in Surat and Pune goes unreported by the media.
