The intensity of the earthquake in Costa Rica was measured at 6.4 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), strong tremors were felt in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 31 km. There is no immediate report of loss of life or property due to the earthquake. Similarly, the intensity of the earthquake off the coast of Panama was measured at 6.6 on the Richter scale. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was 72 km south of Boca Chica in Chiriqui province.

Earthquake tremors continued to affect normal activities in Panama. A football match was going on when the earthquake occurred. During the match, a player fell on the ground as the earth shook.
