Karnataka: Former DGP Om Prakash's Wife Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody

In the murder case of Karnataka's former Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, his wife has been sent to judicial custody. Pallavi, the wife of the former DGP, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Meanwhile, their daughter has been admitted to NIMHANS hospital for mental health evaluation.

Pallavi had informed the police about her husband's murder. Following this, police officers from the South East Division arrived at the scene, interrogated the deceased's wife and daughter, and initiated an investigation.

Om Prakash had previously expressed concerns about a threat to his life. The police had suspected from the beginning that a close family member might be involved in the murder.

Notably, the former DGP Om Prakash was murdered at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. He was a retired IPS officer of the 1981 batch. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was stabbed to death. His body was found on the ground floor of the three-story house with severe injury marks.

It is worth mentioning that Om Prakash hailed from Champaran district in Bihar. He held a postgraduate degree in Geology. During his career, he served as the Director General of Karnataka Home Guards and Fire Brigade and as the state's Director General of Police from 2015 to 2017. He held several positions, including SP of Karnataka Vigilance Cell, service in Lokayukta, DIG of Fire Services, and IGP of CID.

He played a significant role during the 1993 Bhatkal communal riots and served in senior positions such as DIG (Administration), DIG (Northern Range), DIG (Training), ADGP (Crime and Technical Services), and ADGP (Grievances and Human Rights). He assumed the role of DGP on February 28, 2015, and retired in 2017.
