One died in Japanese encephalitis in Angul

 ANGUL:Angul district is on high alert following the detection of Japanese Encephalitis in which one child has died out of two affected by this deadly disease. The viral disease created a havoc like situation in Malkangiri district in 2012.

A three member high level medical team rushed to the district and inspected affected areas for three days  before leaving on Friday last. Though they have not found any linkage  behind the outbreak of this viral disease, the district health department remains on high alert.

According to sources,one week ago two girl children aged six and nine of Banarpal and Kosala area were having high fever and other complications.They were admitted into Angul district headquarter hospital where all kinds of treatment were given. When the fever didn’t remit, their  samples were sent to SCB Cuttack for testing. Meanwhile one of the two affected died and another was discharged.

 

 Angul chief district medical officer doctor Sadananda Mohanty confirmed the detection of Japanese Encephalitis virus in the blood sample sent for testing .He said following the detection the district has alerted state health department which sent three experts to Angul district to study the situation.The expert team  visited both Banarpal and Kosala and surveyed the circumstantial situation for three days since June 19.

According to sources,though the encephalitis were detected there was no evidence of the environment that created the virus.They have advised local people to make a distance from mosquito,pig and other animals to avoid such type of virus.

The CDMO said despite there being no environmental evidence of the outbreak of the disease,the district health officials are taking multiple measures in the affected area to stop the spreading of the disease.
