US airstrikes Venezuela and captures Madurao,says Trump
WASHINGTON: The U.S. President Donald Trump has announced early Saturday, January 3, 2026, that U.S. forces have captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife following a large-scale military strike on Venezuela, marking a major escalation and a potential end to Maduro's long-standing rule, though details and confirmations are still emerging.
Explosions rocked the capital Caracas just before the announcement, with reports of military installations being hit, and the Venezuelan government confirmed an attack but hasn't confirmed the capture, with their defense minister calling for resistance.
In a post in his social media,the US President Donald trump said,”The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country”.
“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”,says Donald Trump.
