Talcher-Angul Banchao Andolan(TABA) : Pollution & Displacement Cost Talcher-Angul People Dear

 ANGUL: In order to protect people of Talcher and Angul from acute pollution hazards and ill-effects of massive displacement due to indiscriminate industrialization, an outfit called Talcher-Angul Banchao Andolan(TABA) has been launched in the district today.

At a meeting held at Jaganath temple at Balanda leaders from various walks of life attended and spoke about the hazards of pollution and displacement in Talcher and Angul area.

The speakers felt necessity of forming such a body which will launch relentless struggle against acute air and water pollution as well as displacement of the scores of villagers. They pointed out pollutions caused by 10 coal mines,NTPC power plants and other private power plants in the region which is unbearable on the part of the human society. 

 

 Speaking on the occasion the speakers also pointed out hazards of coming of dozens of coal mines of Chhendipada region where lakhs of trees would be uprooted for the coal mining operations. Almost at Talcher which was having a dense forest belt there is no such forest due to massive coal mining operations.

Speaking on the occasion the convener of the outfit Jagadananda Pradhan said the pollution and displacement issues are highly alarming and needs to be contained in this region.Similarly former MP Rabi Narayan Pani and former block president Talcher Digamabar Garnaik highlighted these two issues which are slowly killing the population.

Social worker Ranjit Patnaik,Prahallad Sahu,Padma Charan Samal,Chaitanya Pradhan,Zilla Parisd member Rita Rani Das,Bimod Lal,Naba Kishore Pradhan,Manas Pal also spoke on the occasion.They called upon the leaders of the outfit to prepare a strategy to oppose such type of pollution hazarsds,massive deforestation and wanton displacement.
