14 people killed, many missing Indonesia landslide

Tana Toraja: At least,14 people have died in a massive landslide in Indonesia triggered by heavy rainfall on Sulawesi island.According to the information received, three other people are also said to be missing in this accident. Officials informed about this landslide case on Sunday.

Official sources,said,torrential rains lashed the Tana Toraja district of South Sulawesi province on Saturday night. After the rainfall, landslides occurred from the surrounding hills. A family function was taking place in one of the houses affected by the landslide. Mundu said dozens of soldiers, policemen and volunteers have been deployed in search operations to rescue people in remote mountain villages. Early on Sunday, rescue workers managed to pull out alive two injured people, including an eight-year-old girl.

Police said that all the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. National Disaster Management Agency spokesman Abdul Muhari said that by Sunday afternoon, rescue workers had recovered at least 11 bodies in Makale village and three in South Makale and the search for three others, including a three-year-old girl, was still ongoing.
