Nepal: Two buses swept by landslide,60 people missing
KATHMANDU: In a heart-wrenching accident of landslide on the Madan Ashrit Highway here, two buses carrying passengers have fallen into the Trishul river.According to reports, after the bus fell into the river, both the buses were swept away in strong current of the river. More than 60 passengers are reportedly missing in this mishapt.
A rescue operation is currently being carried out to search for them,official;ls said.
Getting information, the local police reached the spot and started recue operations. According to information, these two buses Angel and Ganapati Deluxe Bus were on their way to Kathmandu.
According to police, some passengers travelling in these buses saved their lives by swimming after the bus fell into the river and later informed the police about the incident.
Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal tweeted, "I am deeply saddened by the reports of about five dozen passengers missing due to the bus being swept away in a landslide on the Narayangarh-Muglin road section and the loss of properties due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country. I instruct all the agencies of the government, including the home administration”.
