Cherukuri Ramoji Rao : A Titan in Indian Media & Entertainment industry

 BHUBANESWAR: Cherukuri Ramoji Rao a Titan in the field of Indian Media & Entertainment industry, was a true promoter of journalism without fear or favour. His people's journalism exploring the wide canvas of print, #TV & digital media made him a trendsetter in the global media space.

By launching regional television channels in diverse languages, including ETV Odia, in the early phase of satellite television, Ramoji Rao established ETV as the nation's largest network, a testament to his visionary approach.

 In 2002, Ramoji Rao made a significant mark on Odisha's media sector by launching ETV Odia, Odisha's 1st private satellite channel. It not only provided viewers with latest news updates but also offered a diverse range of entertainment programs setting a new trend in the market.

Ramoji Rao always encouraged young talents with ideas & innovation and mentored them. He created, shaped and polished hundreds of young leaders in media and entrepreneurship. Most of the graduates of his school of thought are leading the trans media platforms across the country.

 

 

 

 Ramoji Rao always emphasised on women empowerment. Created several women centric films. Provided employment opportunities to women folks in newsroom & entertainment programs. The credit of nurturing hundreds of women journalists across the country including Odisha goes to him.

Ramoji Rao was a changemaker adapting innovation & technology in the world of rapid technological changes. #ETV was the pioneer in the country using DNG (Digital News Gathering) by engaging mobile internet for data transfer in news broadcasting during the early internet era.

 Ramoji Rao passed away on June 8th, 2024. ExETVians and the media & entertainment fraternity of Odisha, under the banner of 'Odisha Media Parivar,' pays deep homage to the departed soul.
