After California shooting, 2 dead in Chicago shooting

CHICAGO:Two people have died in a shooting in Chicago on Monday. According to reports,some people barged into an apartment and opened fire, killing 2 people and seriously injuring three others.

Chicago police and fire officials said the shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. Police said the suspect fled the scene. Deputy Police Chief Sean Loughran called the incident a target killing. During a news briefing, Loughran said that this was not a random incident, someone had planned it.

Two people died at the scene and three people were taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, Loughran said. One of the victims went to a business about half a mile (0.8 kilometers) away for help, he said.
