Akhilesh Yadav Attacks BJP, Says – This is Not ‘Amrit Kaal’, But a Period of 'Sankat Kaal'

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged on Friday that the Constitution is in danger and institutions are being weakened. Yadav said that his party will raise awareness about this issue at the grassroots level.

Akhilesh Yadav announced that the party has decided to celebrate BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14 at the village level, where discussions will be held on the “crisis facing the Constitution.”

Uttar Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said, “This is not ‘Amrit Kaal’, but a period of crisis. There is a threat to the Constitution and we will take this discussion to the villages.”

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that those in power do not work according to the Constitution but follow “Manav-Vidhan” (arbitrary rule).

He remarked, “We want democracy, they want one-man rule (ek-tantra).”

He accused, “We want to strengthen democracy, but they want to implement a system that weakens it. The Constitution is our protector and our foundation, and attempts are being made to shake and weaken this foundation through institutions.”

Referring to his party’s ideological roots, Yadav said that the Samajwadi Party follows the Constitution given by Ambedkar, the path shown by socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia, and the legacy of “Netaji” (SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav).

Akhilesh Yadav stated that the SP’s objective is to work towards a socialist system and give society a new direction of development. He accused the BJP of working like “saudagar” (traders/merchants).

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the BJP’s focus is on selling assets, making profits, and privatization, which is increasing corruption, profiteering, and inflation along with it.Despite big claims of investment, Akhilesh Yadav said the government has not clarified how much investment has actually come in or how many jobs have been created.

Targeting unemployment, he said educated youth are not getting jobs.Calling for unity among PDA (Backward, Dalit, and Minority), he said the party will work at the booth level to defeat the BJP in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and form a Samajwadi Party government in the state.

He claimed that due to the collective efforts of various organizations, the BJP had to face defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Yadav expressed confidence that similar mobilization would help his party return to power and accelerate development in Uttar Pradesh.
