PATNA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah's proposed visit to Patna Frontier of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Sunday has been cancelled. A release said that the function where Shah was to dedicate nine establishments of SSB to the public and perform 'bhoomi pujan' for the new building of Patna Frontier has been "cancelled due to unavoidable reasons".

Home Minister Shah, who arrived here on Saturday evening, will now leave for Hisua in Nawada district on Sunday afternoon to address a public meeting.

BJP MLA and former minister Jibesh Kumar Mishra, who is camping in Nawada, said over the phone, "The programme is going on in Nawada. Peace is restored in the district and it is not affected by disturbances like other places.

It is noteworthy that Shah's visit to Sasaram in Rohtas district has been cancelled due to communal tension during Ram Navami.

Apart from this, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's home district Biharsharif, barely 40 km from Nawada, is also affected by communal tension. A total of 45 people have been arrested so far in both the riot-affected cities.

Significantly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Bihar on Saturday and allegations and counter-allegations were made between the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JDU over the cancellation of one of his Sunday programmes due to communal tension. Shah is staying in a hotel in Patna city, where he met state BJP leaders late in the evening.

At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's proposed visit to Patna Frontier of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Sunday has been cancelled. A release said that the function where Shah was to dedicate nine establishments of SSB to the public and perform 'bhoomi pujan' for the new building of Patna Frontier has been "cancelled due to unavoidable reasons".

Shah, considered the chief strategist of the BJP, was also to attend a function in Sasaram town of Rohtas district, which was postponed in the wake of communal violence that broke out on Thursday evening during the Ram Navami procession. There were reports of violence in Sasaram on Friday. The Sasaram ceremony was to be celebrated on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maurya Emperor Ashoka.
