Army Chief Reviews Security Situation on Western Borders
The Additional Director General (Public Information) of the Indian Army stated in an X post, “Consequent to the ceasefire and airspace violations on the night of 10-11 May 2025, #GeneralUpendraDwivedi, #COAS, reviewed the security situation with the Army Commanders of the Western Borders. The #COAS has granted full authority to the Army Commanders for kinetic domain response to any violation of the agreement reached through DGMO talks on 10 May 2025.”
However, within hours of the ceasefire deadline, reports of drone intrusions emerged along the border, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, despite India lifting blackout orders and Pakistan fully reopening its airspace. This led to the reinstatement of precautionary measures. In a late-night press briefing, the Ministry of Defence stated, “We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to prevent these violations and handle the situation with seriousness and responsibility.”
The situation remains tense, with General Dwivedi’s review underscoring India’s readiness to respond decisively to any further violations, as empowered by the COAS.
