NCERT textbooks are being shamelessly rewritten by RSS: Jairam Ramesh

(Fast Mail News):--The Congress on Thursday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of carrying out a shameless and mischievous exercise of rewriting NCERT textbooks over the past decade.Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that this is a complete gang that should be investigated.

Jairam Ramesh posted on 'X': "The Supreme Court's anger over critical references to the judiciary in NCERT textbooks is appropriate. In fact, the way NCERT textbooks have been rewritten over the past decade is shameful as well as dangerous."

He alleged that this has been an RSS-operated mischievous and malice-filled exercise. Ramesh said that this 'gang' should be investigated.

India's Chief Justice Suryakant on Wednesday strongly objected to the presence of a chapter on corruption in the judiciary in the Class 8 Social Science curriculum of NCERT, after which NCERT removed the controversial textbook from its website.

The court on Thursday imposed a complete ban on these NCERT books and ordered the seizure of all copies along with the removal of their digital versions.

The top court directed central and state officials to immediately comply with its orders and warned that "serious action" would be taken if the instructions were violated in any form.

The NCERT Class 8 Social Science textbook stated that corruption, a large number of pending cases, and a significant shortage of judges are among the challenges facing the judicial system.
