Congress Attacks Modi Government Over India-US Trade Agreement

(Fast Mail):-- Citing fears that the implementation of the India-US trade agreement could particularly adversely affect the interests of Indian farmers, the Congress demanded that the central government make the full details of this agreement public.

Congress spokesperson and head of the party's social media department Supriya Shrinate told reporters at the Indore Press Club, “The recent statements by US President Donald Trump and representatives of his government suggest that under the trade agreement, we will buy more ‘Make in America’ items. It is deeply unfortunate that our elected government is not providing even a single clear piece of information about this agreement.”

She demanded that the Narendra Modi-led government make the full details of the India-US trade agreement public.

Shrinate expressed apprehension that after this agreement, American agricultural and dairy products could flood India in large quantities, which would obviously cause harm to Indian farmers and industries.

Meanwhile, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal described the trade agreement with the United States as a ‘historic’ deal while speaking in the Lok Sabha, stating that India had succeeded in ensuring the protection of its domestic agriculture and dairy sectors in this agreement.

Shrinate also targeted the central government over recent developments in Parliament. She said, "In the Lok Sabha, the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is not being allowed to speak on issues of national security. He is being shamelessly stopped, while other members are being given the opportunity to speak."

Regarding the preparations for forming a new government in Manipur after the imposition of President's Rule was lifted following a one-year gap in the state affected by ethnic violence, the Congress leader claimed that nothing has changed in this northeastern state.

She said that to win the trust of the people of Manipur, the government must understand their sentiments.

In response to a question, Shrinate said that in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections due next year, the Congress-led 'Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA)' coalition is fully united to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party from power, and decisions on seat-sharing among the constituent parties will be taken by the top leadership.
