Chandrayaan 3: Rover Pragyan goes to sleep, may ‘wake up’ on next sunrise on Sept 22

ANGUL: After traversing over 100 metres on the lunar surface, Pragyan Rover on Saturday completed all its assignments and was set into sleep mode, 11 days after Chandrayaan 3 successfully soft-landed on the moon.

After working hard on the moon, Rover Pragyan will now take a rest for a few days. On Saturday, the Indian Space Agency said that the rover has completed its work. It is now set in Slurp mode. With night falling on the moon, the rover has been given rest. At present the battery is fully charged. Now, the moon will rise on 22nd September. ISRO people have  expressed hope that as soon as the sun rises, the rover will definitely wake up and resume its work. If it doesn't wake up, it will remain on the moon forever as India's lunar ambassador.

Chandrayaan-3 mission has been completely under control till now. ISRO successfully achieved whatever goals it had set for it.

ISRO shared a very important update related to the Chandrayaan-3 mission on the micro blogging site "X". It has told in the post that the rover has completed its work. It is set in sleep mode. But it hopes that on September 22, when the sun rises on the moon, it will wake up and complete the next set of assignments. If this does not happen, it will remain on the moon forever as India's lunar ambassador.

 

There were wild reactions from people on this post. The post was shared widely. People wrote they are sure that the rover will definitely wake up again on 22 September. He saluted the  scientists. Some users wrote that reset is also necessary.

ISRO told late Saturday that the rover has completed its work. It is now safely parked and set to sleep mode. The APXS and LIBS payloads are turned off. Data from these payloads is transmitted to Earth via the lander.

At present, the battery is fully charged. The solar panel is oriented to receive light at the next sunrise, expected on September 22. The receiver is kept on.
