Congress Questions Modi’s Silence on Trump’s Mediation and Ceasefire; Party To Hold 'Jai Hind' Rallies Across India

(Fast Mail):-- The Congress party has announced that it will organize 'Jai Hind' rallies across the country in the coming days to raise questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on US President Donald Trump’s mediation claims and the ceasefire in the conflict with Pakistan.

The party also accused PM Modi and the BJP of openly politicizing 'Operation Sindoor.' This decision was made during a meeting of senior Congress leaders held in Delhi on Wednesday.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated, "We have decided to hold 'Jai Hind Sabhas' in 10-15 states. Senior party leaders will participate, and we will ask several questions of the Prime Minister. Our party has already raised many questions. On May 16, Rahul Gandhi will also pose some questions. In these rallies, we will ask why the Prime Minister is silent. Members of our ex-servicemen department will also be present."

Congress alleged that PM Modi and the BJP are blatantly politicizing 'Operation Sindoor' and attempting to brand this military operation as a "BJP achievement." This was the third meeting of senior Congress leaders following the Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting included Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Sachin Pilot, former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, and several other leaders.

After the meeting, Jairam Ramesh revealed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had written to PM Modi requesting an all-party meeting and a special session of Parliament, but no response has been received so far. He claimed that the previous two all-party meetings were mere formalities.

Ramesh said, "The ceasefire was first announced by the US. This is unprecedented. The Prime Minister doesn’t speak on it at all."

He questioned why the Prime Minister is silent on the US’s mediation claims and reiterated the party’s demand for an all-party meeting chaired by PM Modi and a special session of Parliament.

Ramesh pointed out that the Prime Minister has called a meeting of chief ministers of NDA-ruled states on May 25 but has excluded chief ministers of opposition-ruled states. He remarked, "If this isn’t politicization, what is? This is complete politicization. Such politicization has never happened before."

The Congress leader stated that efforts are being made to brand 'Operation Sindoor' as a BJP achievement, whereas it is a collective resolve and achievement of the armed forces and the entire nation. Ramesh added that Rahul Gandhi will address the media on this issue on May 16. He also said that 'Jai Hind Sabhas' will soon be organized at various locations across the country to question PM Modi.

On April 22, terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Following this, India launched 'Operation Sindoor,' targeting several terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This escalated military tensions between the two nations. On May 10, both countries agreed to halt military actions. The ceasefire was first announced by US President Donald Trump, who claimed he facilitated the truce. This claim has put the Indian government on the defensive. On Tuesday, Trump reiterated in Saudi Arabia that his administration brokered the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, adding that both countries should engage in trade.
