India defeats Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to clinch 8th Asia Cup title,Mohammed Siraj stars with 6 wickets
Earlier, in the first innings of Sri Lanka , Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj took out the Sri Lankan batting badly and bowled it out for just 50 runs. Siraj took six wickets and Hardik Pandya took three wickets. Kusal Mendis scored the maximum 17 runs for Sri Lanka. Jasprit Bumrah spoiled the start of Sri Lanka by getting Kusal Perera (0) caught by KL Rahul on the third ball of the first over.
And then from here came such a tsunami of Mohammed Siraj that Sri Lanka was swept away by it. And within no time his 6 wickets fell by only 12 runs. This included five wickets including 3 taken by Siraj in one over.
In fact, if Virat Kohli's over-throw had not yielded six runs, the host team would not have even been able to touch this figure. After Siraj, when Hardik Pandya came on the attack, he also attacked Lanka at regular intervals. And within no time the entire Sri Lankan team collapsed for 50 runs in just 15.2 overs. In this, Mohammad Sihaj took six wickets, Hardik took three and Bumrah took one wicket.
