On Women's Day, PM Modi's Rs 2,500 Per Month Plan For Delhi Women Proves To Be A Mere Slogan
PM Modi had said, “This was "Modi’s guarantee."
However, by March 8, the BJP government failed to deposit the money into the women’s accounts. This has led the opposition to target the BJP government. Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said that this once again proves that PM Modi’s guarantee is nothing but a hollow slogan.
AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, said, "Prime Minister Modi had promised the women of Delhi that Rs 2,500 would be credited to every woman’s account in Delhi on March 8, i.e., International Women’s Day. She had said that this was Modi’s guarantee. Today, the women of Delhi were waiting. Today, the BJP’s Delhi government has proven that it was not Modi’s guarantee but a mere slogan."
In fact, PM Modi had said during the election campaign that he would fulfill this promise on International Women’s Day. However, on Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta only announced the formation of a committee to implement the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. CM Rekha Gupta herself will also be the chairperson of this committee. Gupta said that the Delhi Cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs 5,100 crore for the implementation of the scheme.
Gupta said that a committee has been formed under her leadership to monitor the implementation of the scheme. She added that senior ministers Ashish Sood, Pravesh Verma, and Kapil Mishra will also be part of the committee.
Gupta stated that a web portal will be launched for registration under the scheme.
According to a report by The Indian Express, women whose household income is less than Rs 3 lakh per year and who do not fall under the tax bracket will be eligible to receive Rs 2,500 from the Delhi government. Officials said that only those between the ages of 18 and 60, who are not in government jobs and are not receiving any other government financial assistance, will be eligible for the grant under the BJP government’s Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.
