Opposition's Vice-Presidential Candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy Arrives in Delhi, Expresses Gratitude to INDIA Alliance Leaders

(Fast Mail):-- The opposition's vice-presidential candidate and former Supreme Court judge, B. Sudarshan Reddy, arrived in Delhi late Tuesday evening.

He was warmly welcomed by MPs from opposition parties at the Delhi airport. Earlier in the day, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge led a joint press conference with opposition leaders, announcing former judge B. Sudarshan Reddy as the INDIA alliance’s joint candidate for the vice-presidential election.

Speaking to the media after arriving at the Delhi airport, Reddy expressed his gratitude to the INDIA alliance for nominating him as their candidate.

He said, "I thank the INDIA alliance for presenting me as their candidate. As a candidate, I humbly request and appeal to all MPs to support my candidature."

Earlier, while announcing Reddy as the opposition’s joint candidate, Congress President Kharge stated that all opposition parties had collectively chosen a candidate for the vice-presidential election.

"I am delighted that all parties have come together in agreement. This is a significant achievement for democracy and the Constitution. Whenever the Constitution is in danger, we unite to fight for its protection. We have decided that this election should have a candidate who will work for the betterment of the country," he said.

Kharge highlighted that B. Sudarshan Reddy is one of India’s most distinguished and progressive jurists. He has had a long and illustrious legal career, serving as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, and a judge of the Supreme Court.

Reddy has been a consistent and courageous advocate for social, economic, and political justice. His judgments reflect his commitment to the poor and marginalized, as well as his dedication to upholding the Constitution and fundamental rights.

Kharge emphasized that the vice-presidential election is an ideological battle, with all opposition parties in agreement.

"We have chosen B. Sudarshan Reddy as our joint candidate because he embodies the values that guided our country’s freedom movement and shaped our Constitution and democracy. These values are under attack, and therefore, our collective and resolute determination is to fight this election," he said.

The opposition will file Reddy’s nomination on August 21.
