1984 riots: Rouse Avenue court acquitted Congress veteran Sajjan Kumar in murder cases of three Sikhs

NEW DELHI:Veteran Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has got a big relief in a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Delhi's Rouse Avenue has acquitted him in the case of murder of three Sikhs. All three were murdered in Sultanpuri area. Along with Sajjan Kumar, the police had also made some other people accused in this case.But after a long hearing, the court, after considering the evidence and witnesses, accepted that Sajjan Kumar is innocent in this case.

Sajjan Kumar was once a big leader of Congress. But after his name came up in the anti-Sikh riots, his career graph started going down. When the court sentenced him in a case, he had to go to jail. Since then he has been marginalized in Congress politics. In 2018, the Delhi High Court had sentenced Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment in another case related to the killing of Sikhs. Since then he is lodged in Tihar Jail.
