55 Chinese sailors killed due to failure in nuclear submarine oxygen system in Yellow Sea

LONDON: At least 55 Chinese sailors aboard a nuclear submarine in the Yellow Sea are feared dead. This nuclear submarine was built with the intention of trapping British and American ships. But it got trapped in its own net. This claim in the local media report has been made on the basis of a British intelligence information.

According to media reports, this Chinese submarine had to face a chain and anchor net. All members of the submarine crew died due to a malfunction in the submarine's oxygen system. None of the sailors aboard the submarine survived. The sailors who lost their lives also included the captain of PLA Navy submarine 093-417 and 21 other officers.

On the otherhand China has officially refused to accept the incident. Besides, China has also refused to take any international help for the submarine. Britain's intelligence report said the submarine met with an accident on August 21 while carrying out a mission in the Yellow Sea. This incident happened at 8.12 pm. 55 naval personnel died in the accident, including 22 officers, seven officer cadets, nine junior officers and 17 sailors. Captain Colonel Xu Yong-peng was also among the dead.
