Asian Games 2023: India storm into final after defeating Bangladesh comfortably
Hangzhou, Oct 6, (Fast Mail News):-- The India Men’s Cricket Team defeated Bangladesh by nine wickets in semi-final 1 of the Asian Games Men’s T20I 2023 at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Hangzhou.
Put into bat first, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 96/9 in 20 overs. Only three batters registered double-digit scores. Jaker Ali’s 24* was the top score of the innings.
Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore registered figures of 4-0-12-3 while Washington Sundar took two wickets.
In reply, India lost an early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over. Super King and India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma stood tall to help the team chase down the target in just 9.2 overs and assured a medal for India as they booked a berth in the final.
Gaikwad smashed a solid 26-ball 40* including four fours and three sixes. Varma scored a fierce 26-ball 55* including two fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 211.54.
Bangladesh’s Ripon Mondol picked up the only wicket of the innings.
India will play the winner of semi-final 2 between Pakistan and Afghanistan on October 7 at the same venue.
