CBI arrests Punjab DIG Harcharan Bhullar on charges of bribery
(Fast Mail): Punjab Police DIG Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar has been arrested by the CBI. According to reports, Bhullar was arrested from his office in Mohali. The police are not yet releasing any information on this matter.
Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar has been arrested by the CBI on charges of bribery. A scrap dealer from Mandi Gobindgarh filed a complaint against him, based on which this action was taken. He is accused of accepting a bribe of ?5 lakh per month. According to reports, the CBI was under constant surveillance of DIG Bhullar.
In addition, the CBI raided the DIG's premises in Punjab and Chandigarh, seizing a large amount of cash and numerous documents. According to reports, the CBI recovered approximately ?5 crore in cash, jewelry weighing approximately 1.5 kilograms, documents related to immovable properties in Punjab, keys to two luxury vehicles (a Mercedes and an Audi), 22 luxury watches, and locker keys.
A 2007-batch Indian Police Service officer, Bhullar serves as the DIG (Ropar Range). The Ropar Range includes the districts of Mohali, Rupnagar, and Fatehgarh Sahib. Bhullar previously served as the DIG (Patiala Range). He has also served as Joint Director of Vigilance Bureau and Senior Superintendent of Police in Jagraon, Mohali and Sangrur.
