Ceasefire Announced Between India and Pakistan, Pakistani DGMO Initiates Dialogue - Ministry of External Affairs

(Fast Mail):-- India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire”, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday in a post on Truth Social after a “long night” of talks mediated by the United States.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries for using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Meanwhile, foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has stated, "The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan contacted the Indian DGMO by phone today at 15:35 hrs. They agreed that both sides will cease all forms of firing and military actions on land, air, and sea starting from 17:00 hrs Indian Standard Time. Instructions have been issued to both sides today to implement this agreement. The DGMOs will hold further discussions on May 12 at 12:00 hrs."

Government sources confirmed that direct talks between India and Pakistan led to the agreement to halt firing and military actions. The Pakistani DGMO initiated the dialogue this afternoon, resulting in the consensus. No decisions were made regarding discussions on other issues or at other venues.

The announcement comes days after rising escalations between India and Pakistan after a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam claimed 26 lives last month. Days later, India retaliated with ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir killing over a 100 terrorists, according to the government.
