Delimitation based solely on population criteria is unfair: Naveen Patnaik

BHUBANESWAR: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik said on Saturday that population should not be the sole criterion for determining the number of seats in Parliament. Patnaik demanded detailed discussions with all parties before initiating the delimitation process.

Addressing the first joint action committee meeting on delimitation, called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Patnaik said that the BJD would make every possible effort to protect the interests of the people of Odisha.

He said, "We believe that population should not be the only criterion for determining the number of seats in Parliament."
