India's first grain ATM launched in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha's Food Minister Krishna Chandra Patra launched a first ever it’s kind of Annapurti ATM on August 8 in the presence of Nozomi Hashimoto, Deputy Country Director of World Food Distribution Event in India.

The ATM’s special feature is that this machine can distribute 50 kg of grain in 5 minutes. Soon similar ATMs will be started in other districts of Odisha,Hashimoto said.

Minister Patra said that the process of taking grain from the Grain ATM has been made very easy. Any ration card holder can take grain by entering his Aadhaar or ration card number and after biometric authentication. The ATM will distribute rice/wheat round the clock. Annapurti can distribute up to 50 kg of grain in five minutes, in which the margin of error is 0.01%.
