Manipur: 4 arrested, 2 in custody in gruesome murder of students

IMPHAL:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four people and detained two in connection with the gruesome murder of two students in Manipur in July.These are the same people whose pictures were revealed on social media last week. These four include two women and two men. Two girls have been detained in the state capital Imphal. The four arrested people have been taken to Guwahati in Assam.

After arresting the suspects, the security forces took them to the airport and handed over them to a CBI team who was present in the airport..The CBI team took a flight from Imphal to Guwahati at around 5:45 pm along with the suspects.

Colonel (retd) Nectar Sanjenbam, who was recently appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (Combat), led the secret operation to nab the suspects in Churachandpur.

 

 There are several Kuki insurgent groups in Churachandpur who have signed the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement. Colonel Sanjenbam has served in 21 Para (Special Force).

Photographs of the bodies of two students, a boy and a girl, who went missing in July, surfaced on social media on September 26. After this, the Manipur government had assured to take immediate action.

The bodies of both the minor students have not been found yet.The investigating officers are also reportedly probing allegations of rape before the murder of the minor.

A boy and a girl are seen in the pictures. Both were 17 years old. They wee seen sitting in a grassy compound in a temporary camp of an armed group in a forest.
